MUSEO TEO 1990 - 2010

Museo Teo turns twenty on 2010! The first birthday party is in San Francisco CA Friday June 4th: Porto Franco Art Parlor presents the exhibition Interferences.

Museo Teo, a museum with no location nor works of art, differently from a regular museum with its static and traditional functions of preservation and cataloguing, meant to take art away from the institutional world: Museo Teo operates collectively to activate a network of creative relationship and the production of social awareness and meaning, to avoid any form of artistic and cultural stagnation.
Porto Franco Art Parlor is a not conventional gallery at the heart of SF Mission District: the gallery - on the second floor of a Victorian house - very much looks as living apartment and shares space with the record label Porto Franco Records.

Interferences is the product of the parallel work of four artists who operate in different modalities while at the same time maintaining a common attitude toward the communicative and conceptual processes of the visual arts.
In this case it is not simply a question of interference but also of interaction: Giovanni Bai and Carolina Gozzini (Museo Teo, Milano, Italy) and Véronique Champollion (Art Mobil, Antibes, France)have known one another for many years and have often collaborated, not only as artists but also in the organization of events in non-conventional spaces like the Porto Franco Art Parlor.
The seminal point of this show is a trip through the Sahara Desert where Carolina Gozzini observed and photographed the patterns in the sand created by the wind and subsequent or previous footprints of insects animals and human beings leading us to the work of Giovanni Bai: interference as produced by the manipulation of electronic images.
Traces of the interaction between the natural and artificial can be found in the work presented by Gozzini and Bai in this show at Porto Franco Art Parlor and it has a profound assonance with the combine paintings of Véronique Champollion.
Special guest of the exhibition is Chantal Decleve - a French artist living in San Francisco - that shows drawings whose subjects interacts with those of Véronique Champollion.
The plastic jewelry of Carolina and the shadows they cast integrate themselves with the pages of old newspapers from which Véronique has reproduced the images with a masterly painting technique, subverting their meaning, while the noised landscapes of Giovanni - integrated with oil paints – and the watercolour drawings of Chantal add to the creation a fine example of the fusion of form, colour and concept within the autonomy and originality of each artist.
